Hands on Day!!!
Part 1- Mystery Fabric Bag
This month has 2 parts and opportunity to sew on our machines. Come pick up a mystery bag of coordinating fabrics from our Charlotte, ASG stash (most from Sue Speir. One mystery bag is include free for anyone wanting to participate. Additional bags can be purchased for $5 each. Colors of fabrics are listed on the bag to aid in choosing . A (very) rough count says we started with >100 woven fabrics and >50 knits. that were carefully curated to optimize creative options. Use your creativity and skills to create a masterpiece that will have a big reveal during our September 26 meeting, we are calling the ‘Sue Spear Memorial Fashion Show’? . These don’t have to be garments, and prizes will be awarded. Please send suggestions for categories for how to best judge results.
Part 2- Service Project-

Supplies:
The charity project is reusable menstrual pad liners. Attached is the pattern in pdf format. Please bring your sewing machine, basic sewing supplies, and threads of any color. We have some 100% cotton fat quarters but if you are willing to let go from your stash, that would be appreciated. There is also a small over the shoulder purse/bag for the girls to carry. That pattern will be available at the meeting.
Sewing machine & universal needles
Usual sewing tools (scissors, seam ripper, pins, ruler, etc)
Unwanted 100% cotton fabric (suitable for menstrual pads and purses to keep them in)
Thread in a range of colors
Guild will provide: patterns, some fabric, the absorbent & barrier fabrics
We are combining forces with 2 different organizations to eliminate the stigma and limitations associated with menstruation so that women and girls have improved health, education and livelihoods. We are making washable, reusable feminine pads, and bags to cary them in. Assembly materials will be provided but you need to bring your sewing machine and basic sewing supplies.
